Introduction
- Can you briefly introduce yourself and your role at Traydstream?
I am Sambit Patnaik, Chief Operating Officer at Traydstream. I have been with Traydstream for more than 7 Years now, and prior to that worked at Global Banks for 25 Years. My Team is responsible for client onboarding, engagement & retention, by helping users trained on AI based platform to drive efficiencies through digitization of trade finance documents. They help clients understand the benefits of our solutions and provide operational support.
The Challenge
- Can you share a time when you supported or championed gender equality in the workplace?
Citi being one of our key clients was expanding its footprint with our solution from Q2 2024 onwards. We took this opportunity and hired many very talented women from financial institutions having strong trade operations background to support these Countries across time zones. I am proud to say that 45% of our Team today has women located in multiple countries playing key roles supporting clients in various geographies.
The Message
- What advice would you share with men about supporting women in trade and fintech?
Men should realize that both Trade and FinTech need women for providing different perspectives while preparing Training Manuals & Videos or handling platform support & guidance to end users. After all, many Trade Operations users are women today and if every artefact is prepared or communication is limited to be handled by men only, it will not help in terms of acceptance so easily.
- Why do you believe men play a crucial role in advancing gender equity?
Rightfully, men should challenge the stereotypes and push for equal opportunities – simple examples being sharing responsibilities at Home or even in the Office. There are lot of cultural norms across societies followed for hundreds of years, this is where men can take initiatives and change the trends.
