Traydstream Appoints Former Citi Global Trade Head and BAFT Chairman John Ahearn as Strategic Advisor

London, United Kingdom – 27th January 2026 — Traydstream, a leading trade digitisation and compliance automation platform, today announced the appointment of John Ahearn, former Global Head of Trade and Managing Director at Citi, ex-Chairman of BAFT, and former senior executive at ABN AMRO, as Strategic Advisor to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

John Ahearn brings decades of executive and senior-level experience across global trade finance, banking, and financial services. During his career, he ran Citi’s global trade business for many years and also held senior leadership roles at ABN AMRO, before later serving as Chairman of BAFT, where he played a central role in shaping industry standards and best practice across transaction banking.

He has built a distinguished track record advising leading financial institutions on trade strategy, market development, operating models, and industry frameworks. His deep expertise across trade products, technology, operations, ICC and BAFT standards, and the rapidly evolving digital trade landscape will significantly strengthen Traydstream’s continued growth and product innovation.

In his advisory role, John will work closely with Sameer Sehgal, CEO of Traydstream, and the senior leadership team to provide strategic guidance, industry insight, technology thought leadership, and operational expertise. He will also support Traydstream’s engagement with ICC initiatives and evolving ISBP standards, helping ensure the platform remains at the forefront of best practice as global trade continues to digitise.

Sameer Sehgal, CEO of Traydstream, commented:
“John brings incredible experience spanning several decades, with a unique grasp of the many nuances of global trade. His practical wisdom of how trade operates on the ground, combined with a deep appreciation of the macroeconomic environment, makes him an exceptional addition to Traydstream. John’s counsel will be invaluable as we continue to scale internationally and support our clients with greater certainty, efficiency, and confidence.”

John Ahearn added:
“Traydstream is on a game-changing mission, addressing some of the most persistent inefficiencies and risks in global trade. I am delighted to be working with Sameer and the leadership team to help shape the platform’s evolution and support the wider industry’s transition towards a more digital, standardised, resilient, and risk-reduced future. It’s hugely exciting to work closely with world-class technology and apply it to trade and transaction banking in such a visible and definitive way.”

This appointment further strengthens Traydstream’s commitment to combining advanced technology with deep domain expertise to modernise trade finance and compliance worldwide.
